House Burn TrainingTraining

The East Olympia Fire District #6 Training Division strives to continuously provide our career and volunteer firefighters the highest quality training required of this dangerous profession to ensure our firefighters possess the essential skills and abilities to safely and effectively deliver services to our citizens. Training consists of personal protective equipment, driving/operating fire engines, fire behavior, water supply, fire hose, ventilation, ladders, and vehicle extrication to name a few. The Training Division is also required to meet quarterly and annual training set forth by the laws of the State of Washington.

In addition to fire training, all of our firefighters are Washington State certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) or First Responders. This certification requires additional training to maintain skill levels in both State and local Thurston County Patient Care Protocols through several sources including interactive online web training, competency-based training through instructors, and various classroom lectures.

East Olympia Fire District #6 is unique in that the agency has invested in a training center (prop city) located at Station 64 which allows our Training Division to deliver hands-on, live-fire training on car fires, dumpster fires, search and rescue, ventilation, and a drafting tank for pump training. The Fire Blast trailer also allows live fire simulation for interior fire attack.
