District General Overview.

East Olympia Fire District #6 (Thurston County Fire Protection District #6) was formed in 1953 and is located east of the city limits of Tumwater and southeast of the city limits of Olympia and Lacey, and North of the city limits of Tenino covering 30 square miles.

East Olympia Fire District #6 provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Fire Prevention/Public Education, Fire Investigation, Fire Suppression (vehicle, residential and commercial), Wildland Fire Fighting services, and mutual aid for both fire suppression and EMS to our neighboring fire departments. Advanced Life Support (ALS) services throughout Thurston County are provided by Thurston County Medic One.

These services are delivered from four fire stations (Headquarters Station 61 located on Normandy Street; Station 62 located in Offut Lake; Station 64 located on Old Highway 99; and Station 65 located in Sunwood Lakes), two of which are staffed 24 hours a day with a combination of career personnel and volunteers.

The Fire District is governed by three elected officials, the Board of Fire Commissioners, who serve as the policymakers of the agency.  The day-to-day operations and implementation of policies of the district is managed by the Fire Chief.  The agency employs 20 personnel and approximately 40 volunteers.

The District provides fire suppression and emergency services to the citizens of East Olympia from the boundaries of Yelm Highway and Henderson Blvd south to the Olympia Airport; from 93rd Avenue south to Tilley Road and 103rd Avenue; North to Spurgeon Creek Road and Yelm Highway, then west on Yelm Highway to Henderson Boulevard, including the communities of Canterwood, Sunwood Lakes, Indian Summer, Boulevard Heights, Boulevard Extension Road, Orvas Court, Sten Village, Hickory Court, and Offut Lake.
